A new seven-storey building, which will be the tallest in downtown Westbank, has been given final approval by West 乌鸦传媒 city council.听
To be constructed at 3717 Hoskins Rd, the mid-rise apartment building will have 65 rental suites.听
鈥淭his is not classified as a high building,鈥 top municipal planner Brent Magnan told council on Monday, explaining the distinction is important under the provincial building code in terms of what the municipality would require for new fire-fighting apparatus had it been deemed a high-rise.听
鈥淎t this point, this is something (seven storeys) that乌鸦传媒 do-able under our existing fire suppression systems,鈥 Magnan said. 鈥淲e鈥檒l likely see ones similar to this as we move forward.鈥
In response, Coun. Rick de Jong said: 鈥淚f our fire chief is happy, so am I.鈥
Coun. Garrett Milsap was enthusiastic in his praise for the seven-storey building.听
鈥淭his begins the revitalization of downtown,鈥 Millsap said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e going to have people living and working in downtown West 乌鸦传媒. I look forward to seeing a few more of these going up in the next few years."

The building, by Lakeland Living, will also have two commercial premises, the first EV charging centre in downtown Westbank, a rooftop space with lake and valley views, and a mural.
鈥淚鈥檓 very excited about this building,鈥 said acting mayor Stephen Johnston. 鈥淚t乌鸦传媒 hitting a market point that we鈥檙e missing in the community for attainable housing. I鈥檓 very excited about it (and) I love the opportunity for a mural.听
鈥淭hat乌鸦传媒 super cool, it鈥檒l add a lot of character and flavour to the community,鈥 Johnston said.听
