Sun at home looking to finish unbeaten regular season

The Okanagan Sun

Okanagan Sun play its final game of the regular season Saturday at Apple Bowl Stadium beginning at 4 p.m.

The Sun (9-0) battles Chilliwack Valley Huskers at what will be their 3rd annual Burn Fund Classic game.

Bobby Davis, and countless other members of the West ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ and ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ fire departments, have come through the Okanagan Sun Football program.

They will be on hand with fire trucks, fire gear and much more as they raise money for the burn fund.

Halftime will feature a special tug-of-war.

The Sun is coming off a 24-10 win over Westshore Rebels while Chilliwack (5-3) – currently on a three-game winning streak -- scored an impressive 33-5 win over Langley.

All eyes this afternoon are on Sun running back Elelyon Noa, who last week carried the ball 41 times for 253 yards. In doing so, Noa established a new Okanagan Sun rushing record at 1,405 yards, 200 yards shy of the BCFC single season record of 1,604.

Marek Filipek is expected to get the start at quarterback. FilipekÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ numbers have been steady this season, 87 of 145 attempts, nine touchdowns and five interceptions.

On the defensive side of the ball, linebackers Jacob Bond and Grayson Statham continue their solid play. Bond leads the league in Solo Tackles with 58 and Statham at 32.

Ahmed Borhot leads the league in interceptions with eight this season.
