There乌鸦传媒 nothing quite as vibrant as an Okanagan summer when orchards burst with colour, lake sunsets light up the sky, and creativity spills out in every direction.

This August, that creative energy takes over the big screen at the Rotary Centre for the Arts with Reel Okanagan 2025. Every Wednesday at 7 p.m., the Mary Irwin Theatre comes alive with locally made documentaries and indie features that capture the region乌鸦传媒 stories, voices, and stunning landscapes. This year brings three crowd favourites back by popular demand, plus one exciting new debut.

Opera 乌鸦传媒 joins forces with the Centre Culturel Francophone de l鈥橭kanagan for a one-night-only event, "From Page to Stage 鈥 De Substance 脿 Existence," tonight, July 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 702 Bernard Ave.

This unique evening invites audiences to step inside the creative process, tracing the journey of opera from its literary roots to a live stage experience. The program features text, history, and music. This year with a focus on Verdi乌鸦传媒 鈥淟a Traviata,鈥 Opera 乌鸦传媒乌鸦传媒 upcoming mainstage production which happens august 22/23 at KCT.

Speaking of vibrant, 乌鸦传媒 Community Theatre explodes in a riotous rainbow packed in song with 鈥淛oseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,鈥 staged by 乌鸦传媒 Actors Studio from tomorrow乌鸦传媒 opening night July 31, until August 16. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice乌鸦传媒 classic musical is back, and this production promises to be one of the city乌鸦传媒 most vibrant yet, boasting a cast of 38 local performers, each ready to bring this beloved story to life with new energy and style.

Taking on the iconic role of Joseph is Chad Abrahamson, whose stage presence and vocal chops are set to dazzle. Nathan Flavel, a familiar powerhouse in 乌鸦传媒乌鸦传媒 theatre scene, steps into the larger-than-life role of Pharaoh. The show乌鸦传媒 Narrator, a part that carries the audience through Joseph乌鸦传媒 ups and downs, will be played by the dynamic Mila Prasad.

The pop-rock score is irresistible and features tunes like “Any Dream Will Do” and “Go, Go, Go Joseph” to the kaleidoscopic costumes and choreography, this is family entertainment at its best. Downtown 乌鸦传媒乌鸦传媒 200 block of Bernard Ave transforms into an interactive arts playground Thursday, July 31 (4鈥9 p.m.), marking 10 years of creativity. Enjoy live music, hands-on workshops, and a lively artisan market. Included is 鈥淧alette Pandemonium,鈥 a live painting battle between six artists which I can鈥檛 wait to watch. With free mini-classes in drawing, printing, and sewing, plus artist talks and demos, this vibrant event invites everyone to create, connect, and experience art up close as well as indulge in the many shops, bars, and restaurants that our downtown core offers.

Urban Distilleries on Bernard has its patio open for business and live jazz, and I, Anna Jacyszyn, have been invited to perform this Thursday, July 31. On August 1, enjoy a free evening of alternative-folk as Kim Churchill takes the stage at 8 PM, following opener the Neveah Dyson Duo at 7 PM. Bring your blanket or lawn chairs and settle in for live music under the stars. With a Kid Zone, food trucks, and a bustling farmers鈥 market, this family-friendly event promises fun for everyone. Juno-winning jazz saxophonist Kirk MacDonald brings his dynamic sound to 乌鸦传媒 on Monday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m. This acclaimed Canadian talent was last in 乌鸦传媒 when Jazz Caf茅 hosted him back in 2019, performing with the legendary jazz pianist Harold Mabern, (who sadly passed away later that year). This visit through the Okanagan, MacDonald will play alongside Bruce Barth.
