The driver who caused a crash in Oliver that killed a man last year has been accused of having meth in her system.
Vanessa Lameiras, 30, from Oliver was arrested on July 31 of this for a collision that happened July 31, 2024 on Highway 97 near Road 21, according to a release from the BC Highway Patrol.
Lameiras is alleged to have been driving a white Ford Explorer that hit a grey Toyota Echo just before 8 a.m. that morning. The driver of the Echo, who was the only occupant, died.
The Keremeos division of BC Highway Patrol investigated for nine months before forwarding the charges to BC Prosecution Service before they were approved.
She乌鸦传媒 facing the following charges:
鈥 Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, section 320.13(3) of the Criminal Code;
鈥 Impaired operation of a conveyance causing death (combination of alcohol and drugs), section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code;
鈥 Impaired operation of a conveyance causing death (blood concentration 鈥 Methamphetamines,) section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code.
Lameiras was arrested on the one-year-anniversary of the crash without incident. Her first court appearance was Aug. 6.
